Pumpkin Carving Tutorial From the Master!

Most of us who love Halloween are familiar with the Pumkin Carving Master  Ray Villafane.
But even though I have seen his work I didn't know that he has a pumkin carving tutorial on his blog.
So go check it out, gather your tools and fail miserably as I'm sure I will, LOL but it will be fun to try!

Updated artwork! Finished!

I finished up this canvas that I posted last week. I painted their clothes and I think that made a lot of difference. It feels finished now. And they are much cuter!
Can you feel it? It's almost October, a chill is in the air and my favorite time of year is almost here.
I feel happy inside.
Thanks for visiting!

Tricky Three Halloween Collage on Canvas

Started this collage last night at about 9pm, went to bed about 11:30. Their hats turned out good I think and I like the collage background. I think I will add a painted wardrobe for them though. But here it is as of now.
Hope you have a great weekend!
If you have a second I would really appreciate your vote!

Bewitching Travel Case! & VOTE 4 ME! PLEASE!

I finally finished this Bewitching travel case. It's been a long time in the unfinished pile of things. I had some time to work on it this weekend and am happy with the way it turned out.
Every witch needs a place to put her spell book, her most recent potion, and a few key ingredients.
I love the Tattered Angels Halloween stamps.

Creap Softly And Carry A Magic Wand!

My blog motto, LOL.
Photoshop is great isn't it?
I love old wooden blocks, especially the ones that are nice and aged with the grain really showing through when you paint them.

The White Rabbit

I made this little guy a while back while playing with modeling paste, and just got around to painting him last night. I'm including him in the Mad Tea Party on my other blog.
I added him with wire to an old wooden block that I altered. I bent the wire in a spiral to simulate the rabbit hole, I think I like it.
Technique:
Use a plastic card to spread paste in a thin layer over cardboard and draw a picture into it with a stylus or pen, let dry and paint.

A Work In Progress

Currently working on this tall thin guy, putting down layers of paint and testing patterns.
Notice his hands are two different sizes? Love the creep factor that goes along with that. Tee-Hee.
I'm working on his coat right now, a rough cross hatch pattern I put on quickly this morning just to see if I like it on his coat, I think I do so went and picked up some very fine brushes today and I'll paint over the roughed in lines with gray and start over again with neat lines.
Close up of roughed in lines.

I've still got to make his cane, it will come up just under his large hand.
Love those tails.

I'll show more pics when I get him finished.

Pumpkin Pete

Another Sculpey learning experience. Pumpkin Pete (named after my brother, tee-hee) After I made this I went looking for tutorials online about sculpting hands cause these just weren't what I was going for. But again I'm learning, and not too bad for my second attempt at sculpting a figure from scratch.
I do like his face though, you know that expression "a face only a mother could love" well...LOL
He has a wool tunic tied with a wool sash.
A little pumpkin bauble on his hat.
His hands will hold a sign eventually, when I get it done that is.
Must be Halloween in May. Of course Halloween every day of the year sounds good to me. LOL

A Little Trickster

Say hello to my little friend! This is "Little Nikki" He was a fun little guy to make. I am very inexperienced with polymer clay, I've just never really had the motivation to use it before, but lately I've been getting ideas. So I'm playing a little, learning a little, and having lots of fun. Just like this little trickster.
I hope you are all having a great week!

Magic Hour! Mixed Media Collage Box

I showed a picture of my grandma and her sister wearing witch Halloween costumes recently and now I've done something with it. I made this little shadow box theater.
I added an antique spool as a stand for the altered vintage sewing table drawer.
I added Prima butterflies as wings and Prima flowers.
It looks so much better in person all the glitter just sparkles and you can appreciate the depth much better.

Two little witches - My grandma & her sister

I have been entrusted with all of our family photos and while looking through them I found an old album that belonged to my grandma. When I saw this little picture my heart melted. That little cutie on the left is my grandma Mary Virginia and one of her sisters in on the right. The photo was actually only approx 2"x2" and the entire left side and all the grass at the bottom was missing. I had a little Photoshop session to restore it to this full picture.
Normally when I find old pictures at flea markets I will share them with others freely but this one is all mine.
I'm planning some neat mixed media Halloween artwork with it.

Do not share without permission -if you want to blog please give full credit, do not use in artwork, do not sell, reproduce nor distribute this photo in anyway. It belongs to Thespoena McLaughlin 2010
Thanks!

Finally finished a Halloween project!

I'm so glad to have finally finished a Halloween project. I've been so distracted with my other blog and projects that I haven't gotten to finish one in a while.
I found the old leather pouch at a flea market for 50 cents and just knew I could come up with some use for it, the same day I found several antique cabinet cards in small sizes for a dollar each. I think I like how well it turned out.

Halloween Clown Polymer Clay Piece

I was snowed in this weekend and was working on several things. Some mixed media artwork which I shared on my other blog. And I was making some polymer clay molds and casting pieces, after that I had a little bit of conditioned clay left over and made of this tiny little man, I think I'll add a crepe paper ruffle around his neck to finish him off. I'll be working on more Halloween things soon.
